THE
STRANDING
This sea turtle, along with about 100 others, was found in cold, New England water, unable to escape in time.  It became cold-stunned, a fatal condition if not rescued and treated.

THE TREATMENT The Aquariums in New England could not care for 100+ sea turtles.
Arrangements were made with other facilities to accept some of the turtles, including Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Marathon Turtle Hospital and Mote Marine Lab in Florida.
We agreed to accept eight, this Loggerhead, and seven Kemp's Ridleys.
They arrived very ceremoniously by airplane.
Our Turtle Team then transported our cold guests to the Center.
Internal temperature at stranding was 57.6 F.  Heavily abraded scratches across the carapace. Appetite good.
