Bay's Flight to the Minnesota Zoo
October 29, 2006

Bay on her big day.

Thank you

and Good-bye
Bay, our much loved, long-term resident, leaves us this week for the Minnesota Zoo.

"It is hard to say goodbye" said Executive Director Jean Beasley, "but I think we all realize that Bay needs and deserves a better habitat than we can provide.  That doesn't really make it easy to let her go. "
Bay has been a resident since 2001.  She has buoyancy  problems that have not been resolved despite numerous procedures, and is not releasable into the wild.  She needs a home.

Thanks to Jim Gamlin of  'Save A Turtle', and the great folks at the Minnesota Zoo, Bay now has a new home.
Special thanks to Sima Birach of Washington, DC, for the use of his corporate jet and the skills of two great pilots.

Jean will accompany Bay and get her settled in to her new surroundings.

Loading up at the hospital

The Sunday crew gives Bay her final bath.
