| THE STRANDING | Found in Taylor's Creek with carapace injuries consistent with boat propeller strike. |
| THE TREATMENT | Transported directly to the NC State
School of Veterinary Medicine for carapace repair using surgical steel
plates and screws.

| Placed in shallow water to enable easier breathing
while recovering from surgery.

Daily wound care and TLC help Beaufort recover. The plates are removed and the turtle is gradually placed in deeper water. Good appetite, speedy recovery. |
