THE STRANDING Volunteers with the Emerald Isle sea turtle project observed a sea turtle struggling in the surf during their morning patrol.   They waded in and brought the turtle to shore. They   ept her comfortable in a shallow baby pool, gently poured water over her, and even pitched a tent to give her shade.
State biologists Wendy Cluse and Matthew Godfrey gave her IV fluids and brought her to the KBSTRRC.
She is  lethargic and barnacle covered, is very thin, and exhibits signs of poor liver function.

THE TREATMENT     Initially kept in very shallow water as it is difficult for her to lift her head to breathe.  She is the first turtle to occupy the outside tanks this year and with her size she was placed in a tank we first used for Corncake, years ago.
She will continue to receive fluids and antibiotics.
