| THE STRANDING | Found in a pound net in Core Sound with
monofilament line of the long line type protuding from the beak.
The turtle had swallowed the hook. PCV 32%.

| THE TREATMENT | The hook could be seen but not removed in house. On August 26 the turtle was taken to the School of Veterinary Medicine at NC State in Raleigh, where the hook was removed by endoscopy. |
| SEPT 2003 | After a soft diet for one week (squid, no spines or beaks) the turtle resumed a normal diet of hospital food (fish). |
