WATCH OUR PROGRESS
Thanks to grants from private foundations the KBSTRRC was able to purchase a lot in Topsail Beach one block from the center.
Thanks to Louis Orr and Orrkids for the donation of this house to place on our new lot. All we have to do is move it.

Back of hospital from the dock - 1998

Back summer 2000.

At left is our 900 sq. ft. building.

The indoor facility features a flow through water exchange system.
Water continually pumps from the sound into the individual turtle tanks. The water then returns to the sound via an overflow pipe and drain.

During the winter months the water is pumped from the sound into the outdoor reservoir tanks and heated to 75 degrees F or 22 degrees C.

The indoor facility also includes fresh running hot and cold water,  laundry facilities, and examination space with medical equipment and supplies.

Executive Director Jean Beasley
welcomes folks during visiting hours.

Crowds gather under the canopies while
waiting for a peek inside.

Some of our volunteers have become experts in PVC and the art of moving water.
You don't have to be a engineering genius to volunteer but we are glad this guy is.
This  system has keeps the sea turtles warm and clean all winter.
