| THE STRANDING | Found with carapace injuries not typical of a boat stike. This is a record small loggerhead for the near shore waters of North Carolina. The turtle had been tagged. She is a "head start" turtle from a lab in Galveston, Texas. The turtle had been released from Galveston July 23, 2003and is 2.5 years old. |
| THE TREATMENT | The turtle was started on Fortaz to fight infection. Each day the wound is cleaned and covered with triple antibiotic ointment. She is doing well. |
