THE STRANDING Part of a mass cold stun stranding event in NC.  Gravely was a block of ice when we first admitted her.
THE TREATMENT Slowly warmed, shallow fresh water for her first night.  Fresh water encourages the leeches and barnacles to move on.  On day two we gave her a proper amount of water for such a big girl and she responded positively.
 

Gravely spent the cold winter in the warm waters of rehab.
