Found near Indian Beach, NC with a full thickness carapace fracture, consistent with a boat propeller cut. The fracture is about 12 inches long and an inch deep. |
| TREATMENT | The wound was flushed with saline and packed with antibiotic cream covered gauze. The sea turtle was placed in shallow sea water. |
| UPDATE July 13, 2002 | Today the sea
turtle
went through a lengthy wound debridment. Pieces of broken bone
were
removed and the entire wound was thoroughly flushed and cleaned before
being repacked with antibiotic cream and gauze.
