| THE
STRANDING |
Observed in the near shore
waters, in and out of the surf, for about a day.
John Lytvinenko of the Holden Beach sea turtle patrol was amoung the
observers. He was able to borrow a kayak from a visitor, and the
two set out to rescue the sea turtle. It was tricky business, but
they eventually were able to retrieve the turtle and get her into shore.
Bill from the Holden Beach sea turtle patrol drove Kayak to the center.
She was covered in mud and mud grass, about 4-6 inches high on most of
her carapace. No injuries were found. Somewhat lethargic
and thin.

| THE
TREATMENT |
A little scrub up, some fresh
water to kill the barnacles, and an injection of antibiotic and this
turtle settled in to the quite corner tank in the back.

|
|

Kayak lucked into the large tank back in the quiet corner. The
tank is black, unlike most others, and provides good cover from nosey
photographers.
She is ready to go home.
