| THE
STRANDING |
Found with boat propeller
injuries.
Caught up in a gill net being used by a UNCW researcher trying to
locate diamondback terrapins. It is actually lucky that she was
corralled by the net as the close encounter allowed the researcher to
get a good look at those wounds. Otherwise, she may have gone on
struggling to heal from those wounds on her own (at best). Nancy
Fahey was summoned to help transport this guy up to the hospital.

| THE
TREATMENT |

The wound is flushed, packed with gauze covered antibiotic cream and
then covered with Tegaderm.
Indictable antibiotics are also administered.

SEPT 09
|
The wounds are flushed and dressed, then
covered in Ioban or Tegaderm, each day. Lollipop is very feisty
and a real handful during injections. It hurts us more than it
hurts her!

APRIL 2010
|
Lollipop was a hand full all winter, but
worth the effort.
Jennifer Bragaw and Beth Howard escorted Lollipop to the gulfstream
courtesy of the US Coast Guard.
