Nine sea turtles
were released back to the wild on September 24, 2003.
To help celebrate, more than 700 school
children were on the beach, with signs, cheers and well wishes.

To add to the celebration,
Progress Energy donated $10,000 to be used for satellite tracking in 2004.
Progress Energy also donated
the book "Turtle Tracks" to each school in attendance.
