| THE
STRANDING |
Found floating in the
corner of pound net in Core Sound. Thought at first to be dead,
this very sick sea turtle was retrieved from the net.
She is very emaciated and lethargic, with an incredibly high leech and barnacle load. A healing wound was observed on the right shoulder. |
| THE TREATMENT | The turtle has been
place in fresh water due to the heavy leech load.
She appears to have been ill for some time. Flippers have the appearance of having been nibbled, perhaps by crabs. ![]() ![]() |
| A summer of antibiotics, daily personalized (or turtleized) care, and abundant food fortified with vitamins has given this turtle renewed strength. She begins her journey home September 18, 2002 along with several others. | |
