| THE STRANDING | Captured in a pound net in Core
Sound, this sea turtle is in poor physical condition and lost many
scutes. She is thin and hungry and has no problem eating.  |
| THE TREATMENT | Antibiotic scrubs and
injections, regular meals, and TLC |

Surf has enjoyed many fine meals and her physical condition is much
improved. |

An offer by the Coast Guard coupled with
lack of space equals early
release for Surf and others. Surf would have been released in
June
when our near shore water warms, but with a ride to the gulf stream
she opted to go now. Thanks to our Coast Guard friends she had a few friendly hands with strong sea legs to gently let her go. She swam off into the beautiful warm blue waters.  More RELEASE photos |
