THE STRANDING A sea turtle was reported to be in the canal behind Figure 8 Island for several days, possibly as long as ten days.  Interns  Sean, Chris, and Jen responded.  Once on site Sean borrowed a kayak from Gordon Taylor, and the two of them paddled out to the turtle.  As they drew near they observed the turtle and determined that she was not caught on anything underwater.  As they paddled along side of the turtle, Sean jumped in the water and caught the turtle.  They were able to paddle in to shore, and then transport to the center, a distance of about 25 miles.  She had the typical freeloaders attached, such as leeches and barnacles, but no sign of injury.
