| THE
STRANDING |
Animal lovers Andrew and
Kourtney found this small green turtle floating listlessly near the
marina in the Washington Acres subdivision of Hampstead.
They recognized that the turtle was not behaving normally and pulled
her to safety. They contacted the KBSTRRC and met a volunteer for
the hand off.

Thanks Andrew and Kourtney for giving this turtle another chance.

| THE
TREATMENT |
With no apparent injuries, one
thought is that the turtle suffered from forced submergence in a net
which can cause a multitude of problems.
Started on antibiotics.

It's seems obvious, but turtles have to eat
to get better and this little guy was just not interested. Then
finally, after almost two weeks of refusing to eat on her own,
Washington II lunged after a piece of fish and then continued to
eat. Big break through in her recovery.

Washington spent the winter eating and
regaining strength. She qualified for early release and was
released into the gulfstream courtesy of the US Coast Guard.
