THE STRANDING Found at the power plant in Brunswick County, with a fracture of the distal humerus of the left front flipper, and a gash on the left side of the face, resulting in a fracture of the zygomatic arch as well.   Started on antibiotics.
THE TREATMENT Taken to the College of Veterinary Medicine of  NC State, the fracture was reduced using a combination of of plates, screws and wires.  This turtle was then transported by State wild life officials to the KBSTRRC.

June 2003 Wick's injuries to the flipper were too severe and the flipper was amputated.
Sept 2003 Wick has adjusted to swimming and diving three flippered and is ready for release.
