NEST ADOPTIONS OPEN APRIL 1, 2023
As sea turtle nesting season comes to a close and we are focusing more on the hatches versus new nests, we have decided to stop accepting nest adoptions for the season. Final adoption packages are currently being worked and some will be going out very soon. We want to thank everyone who adopted a nest this year, and also for your patience as we worked through the process. We are amazed at the outpouring of love and support for our sea turtles. Your adoption donation of $125 helps to protect and conserve endangered sea turtles! Funds will be used for educational materials, Turtle Talks, signage, and other activities that promote sea turtle conservation and awareness on Topsail Island. How It Works Once you adopt a nest, we will assign you to one of our current sea turtle nests. We will place a sign with your name or that of your designee on that nest at some point during the nesting season (May 1 - August 31). You will receive notification via email when you are assigned a nest and the sign is placed. The sign will remain on the nest until it hatches, approximately 60 days after it was laid. After the nest hatches and the data has been collected, your sign will be removed and mailed to you along with your adoption package within approximately two weeks. What You Get For your $125 tax deductible donation, you or your designated recipient will receive the following.

Important Note
Nature belongs to all of us! No individual or group that participates in this symbolic nest adoption program may claim actual ownership of a sea turtle nest, eggs, or hatchlings. For the safety of the sea turtles, and due to our permitting restrictions, your exact nest location will only be shared AFTER the nest hatches and analysis has been completed. Also note that there is the possibility that your adopted nest may be destroyed by storms, storm surges, or other acts of nature, and your donation is nonrefundable. Thank you for understanding!
