Educational Enrichment
We aim to supplement school curriculums by providing in-depth knowledge about sea turtles and our oceans, and the impact of human actions.

By showcasing the beauty of sea turtles and their lives, the program seeks to inspire students to become advocates for sea turtle conservation and take action to protect our oceans for future generations.

School programs are open to all grades Pre-K through 12. Our courses are adjusted to the age that is being taught depending on the subject.

Group tours
Embark on a "turtley" amazing journey through the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center with our captivating group tours. As you step into this unique facility, you will be greeted by a team of passionate staff and volunteers, eager to share their knowledge and expertise about these incredible sea creatures. Our group tours offer an up-close encounter with the sea turtles, allowing you to witness their beauty and resilience. Our sea turtle facility tours promise an enriching and unforgettable experience that leaves you and your students with a profound appreciation for the importance of conservation efforts in preserving these ancient mariners. Group tours will receive a discounted price with a minimum amount of students.

Group tours will receive a discounted price with a minimum amount of students.
- All grades
- Tours are about 45 - 60 minutes long.
- A minimum of 10 paying children (children under 2 do not apply) is required to book an educational tour/program
- One adult chaperone per 15 students is required.
- Due the nature of our facility we ask that you adhere to one adult per 15 students.
- If parents/siblings wish to attend they will need to purchase tickets to visit at another time.
- Pricing: $5 per student/ For every 15 students, 1 adult is free, after that it is $7 per teacher/chaperone plus tax.
- Advanced, online reservations are required at least 14 days prior to requested visit.A minimum of 10 paying children
- $50 non-refundable down payment is required to secure your day and time.
Group Cancellation, Reschedule and No Show Policy:
- The $50 down payment is non-refundable, but can be transferred to a future program.
- If paid in advance, you can receive a full refund (minus the deposit) if you cancel within 30 days of the program/tour.
- Transfer- if there is an unexpected conflict with your reservation, you may transfer your reservation to another date within the same calendar year as the original reservation unless otherwise stated.
- Transfers must be requested no less than 48 hours prior to the program.
- Transfers may be moved to a different date for the same program, or any other educational program.
- No refunds, transfers, or credits can be issued less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled program.
- All program payments not eligible for refunds, transfers, or credits will be considered a tax-deductible donation and a donation letter will be issued upon request.

- In the event that a program is canceled by KBSTRRC, a refund will be issued within 710 business days.Cancellations & refunds for programs may be issued at the discretion of the Executive Director due to (but not limited to) the following reasons:
- A Tropical storm (or greater; hurricane) Warning is issued for our area within 24 hours of the scheduled program.A Flood Warning is issued for Surf City and surrounding areas within 24 hours of the scheduled program.
- If a severe public health safety concern requires the facility to close.
Classroom Programs (Optional add-on to group tours)

Our classroom programs have been thoughtfully designed to foster a love for learning, encourage curiosity, and ignite passion for sea turtles. Our lessons are led by one of our shellebrity educators. These programs are ideal for smaller groups for a more in-depth lesson. Program topics are available for a wide-range of grades and will align with student grade-level and NC state and national science standards. You will receive a tour of our facility and meet in our classroom to learn from one of the program shellections below.
Here at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, we are committed to providing enriching and engaging educational experiences for students of all ages. - You will receive pre and post content of the lesson to get your students ready for their visit!
- Pricing: $75 per program, plus group admission rate of $5 per student and $7 per chaperone.
Outreach programs
The KBSTRRC-to-school outreach program is a unique and interactive initiative designed to bring the wonders of sea turtles directly to your classroom. Through engaging presentations, captivating exhibits and hands-on activities, this program aims to inspire student’s curiosity about sea turtles and promote the importance of sea turtle and ocean conservation. Choose from the program shellections below.
The KBSTRRC-to-school outreach program is a unique and interactive initiative designed to bring the wonders of sea turtles directly to your classroom. Through engaging presentations, captivating exhibits and hands-on activities, this program aims to inspire student’s curiosity about sea turtles and promote the importance of sea turtle and ocean conservation. Choose from the program shellections below.
- Programs are approximately 45-60 minutes
- Maximum of 30 students per program
- You will receive pre and post content of the lesson to get your students ready for their visit!
- Pricing: $100 plus a mileage charge of $0.655 per mile. Limit of 45 miles from Surf City.
Virtual Programs
Too far away to visit? We bring the turtles and our hospital to YOU.
Virtual field trips are live, two-way, interactive experiences between your school/organization and our facility in Surf City, North Carolina. We connect your audience to our sea turtle experts who will highlight topics of your choosing. We can see and hear your learners and they can see and hear us through video conferencing connections. You will receive an up close tour of our facility, what we do and how we protect our sea turtles. You can also have the option to participate in a virtual lesson. See the following options…
